Moose hunting occurs at the same time as deer hunting.
Hunting moose in mid-late November can be a little more challenging than during the rut. The calling technique generally does not work very well at this time and so other methods such as tracking and just a familiarity with the land (and our guides know these areas well), are what works best.
When a moose is down just the size of this great animal can be pretty overwhelming. Be prepared to spend some time and effort in getting the moose to the road where the picker truck can then manage things from there. Moose don't always fall when you shoot them so there's work in getting them out of the bush. Everyone usually sees this as an adventure.
After all that excitment and fresh air, camp will be a nice way to wind down. You can look forward to 1st class meals prepared by Murray and Lorraine. The food is fantastic. Then relax in the comfort of heated rooms and a hot shower.
These days are a little shorter. The hunts are from 8am - 5pm so there will be more free time to relax, watch hunting videos and prepare for the next day. After such days, relaxing is probably the best way to spend your time. After all, it is a holiday. |
